W.W. Stephenson Company, Inc. had recently won a contract at the Port of Los Angeles, retrofitting 10 container cranes at the APM Container Terminal.  The project, located at 2500 Navy Way in Terminal Island, contains adding additional counterweights to 10 container cranes.  The cranes will need the additional counterweight for heavy loads coming in from Germany this spring.  The weight will be added to the crane ballasts, however, each ballast has a unique weight requirement.

We have poured 18 to 23 yards in each of the cranes so far using a 63 meter with multiple reducers in order to reach the top.  The process is slow, usually pumping one crane a day, but this project allows for no do-overs.
